Education
Education can be the difference between life and death! Numerous studies have indicated that increasing the length of time a child remains in school leads to a reduction in HIV occurrences. Females are especially vulnerable because a family in Uganda is more likely to educate the boys.
Denial of education rights ultimately leads to decreased ability to earn a living wage, early marriage, larger families and life choices that can increase the chance of domestic abuse, contraction of HIV and early death.
We are focused on helping improving the educational opportunities for the impoverished children of Uganda through advocating for desired improving learning environments like building schools, sanitary latrines, provision of educational materials, teacher trainings. At AYI, we understand that simply paying for the children to attend school is not enough but availing structures to sustain the education system is a key element in promoting education rights in Uganda.
